Project Description:
This photography exhibition was organized to shed light on the city of El Fasher during wartime, under the title "Destruction and Resilience – El Fasher Under the Lens." The exhibition showcased powerful photographs captured by journalists and photographers who witnessed the humanitarian reality in the besieged city. While the images revealed the scale of destruction, they also portrayed faces of resilience and hope amid the bombardment and violence.
Project Objective:
The exhibition aimed to present a human-centered visual narrative that reflects the daily lives of civilians in El Fasher, focusing on stories of hope and resistance often overlooked in war coverage. It also sought to deliver a strong message about the importance of achieving peace and justice in Sudan by highlighting the ability of communities to persevere and endure.
Exhibition Activities:
• Official Opening: January 17 at 5:00 PM
• Photo Display: Daily from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM
• Open Panel Discussion: January 19 at 6:00 PM, featuring a dialogue session with several artists, journalists, and activists.
Outcomes:
The exhibition witnessed significant attendance from Sudanese and African journalists, artists, and activists. It created a space for open dialogue on visual documentation in conflict zones and the role of art in promoting narratives of resilience. It also contributed to raising awareness about the plight of civilians in Darfur.
